Business Issue:

The City of Torrance required a database system to track all economic activity in the city.

The Comdyn Group Solution:

An intranet system that includes a user friendly browser based .Net interface (built in Visual Studio 2003), utilizing various user controls and a HTML template architecture, enabling city users with different security roles to interact with the database. SQL reporting services and the URL Access language is utilized to report on the SQL Server data.

The MSDN Microsoft Patterns and Practices libraries are used extensively, and Business rules and data access are implemented in a middle tier object layer, providing control and security for this sensitive data.

The system will enable Torrance employees to track local business developments and tax revenues, consistent with the City’s goal of increasing the amount of economic development within its bounds.  Eventually aspects of the system may be made available over the web to authorized outside users.
